Mt. Cameron Summit Marker

Mt. Cameron 14,238 ft above sea level,  is Located between Mt. Democrat and Mt. Lincoln in the  Mosquito Range of Colorado as well as Pike National Forest.  It is not an offical 14er by the usual standard, but many people count it in their quest to complete all of the 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado. There are 53/54/58 offical peaks, but this also is a point of contention among the different parties.  There are over 60+ 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado but each peak is required to have certain criteria to be an  offical peak. Each peak must have a minimum of 300 feet (91.44 meters) of topographic prominence and topographic isolation.
Topographic elevation is the vertical distance above the reference geoid, a precise mathematical model of the Earth's sea level as an equipotential gravitational surface.Topographic prominence is the elevation difference between the summits  Topographic isolation is the minimum great circle distance to a point of higher elevation.
When hiking in this area it is easily possible to Bag 4 of the paeks in one day.  Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross.  Be aware that Mt. Bross is on private property and is not open to public hiking. Varoius organizations have been working with the land owners to allow access to this peak.
